AOC Ups Screen Size to 22-inches For USB ÜbermonitorUPDATE: AOC, the makers of an überrange of USB monitors, including the 720p High-Def 1080p - 16-inch E1649FWU USB monitor, has upped the screen size for its latest USB-powered offering. The new e2251Fwu boasts a 22-inch LED backlit display and receives both power and signal solely through it’s – 5volt – USB connection. The single USB cable connection is designed to make hooking yourself up with a dual or multi-monitor setup a simple plug-and-play deal, sure to appeal to those looking to take a second monitor on the road. The e2251Fwu sports Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and operates at 60 Hz, with a 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The unit is also HDCP compatible and comes with a built-in USB 2.0 port for daisy-chaining an additional monitor or other USB devices. AOC hasn’t provided full dimensions for the unit but does reveal it has a 10.6 mm/0.41 inch thickness. The e2251Fwu comes with a removable stand that AOC reckons allows it to be used as a digital photo frame or presentation display. Powered by a DisplayLink chip, the e2251Fwu is compatible with Apple OSX Tiger/Leopard/Lion, Linux, Windows XP/Vista/7. AOC will be showing off the monitor at CES 2012, ahead of its international release in February 2012, e2251Fwu is expected to be  priced at $US 199.  Read the full article »»»»

Gorilla Glass, protecting our favourite gadgets this Superman tough glass is the unsung hero of the gadget world and is about to receive an upgrade. Producing by Corning the new generation of Gorilla Glass will be demonstrated at the upcoming CES show in Las Vegas next week. With hammers at the ready Corning will be demonstrating the almost indestructible nature of the Gorilla. Corning takes great pride in destroying its Gorilla Glass and posting the videos, not an easy task if the demonstrations is anything to go by. The testing that Corning puts Gorilla Glass through confirms the glass is tough, flexible and scratch resistant, with some saying it’s as tough as steel while still being crystal clear.

LG’s Übertelevision! The Road To CES

LG, manufacturer of gadgets that we can all afford have embarked on a media campaign with a bang. The build up to CES has that effect on large corporations. With many drool worthy gadgets being prepared for demonstration at the show, anticipation is building. Like a slow running game of Wheel of Fortune LG has been slowly revealing the latest TV technology. IPS monitors were demonstrated in early December, now LG has turned its attention to every one’s favorite window on the world, the TV.

Two new Über TV’s have had the preview treatment along with updates to LG’s Smart technology used in the Cinema TV’s and Smart Remote controls. LG may have caught the rest of the TV market napping at the wheel with their 55 inch OLED TV, a spectacular technology tour de force that will be the first large screen OLED to market.

With amazing color, extreme refresh rates and the looks to match OLED is the next generation TV. LG has yet to announce the official list price but with much simpler manufacturing process – when compared to other OLED technology – this is the OLED that will battle the top end LCD TV’s. Top end LCD TV technology isn’t standing still though, nor is it waiting for OLED’s to dominate. LG has been pushing LCD technology to it’s limits in the process producing the 84 inch Ultra Hi-Definition 3D LCD TV, a television that dwarfs all but the tallest man. LG’s New Dream Screens, IPS6 Cinema 3D Monitors

LG is set to introduce their latest display technology at CES 2012. The DM92 is LG’s new baby, with a 27″ IPS panel surrounded by a super sexy 1mm bezel. Almost looking edge to edge the panel fills the screen. The IPS technology used in new range of monitors guarantees the brightest colors and widest viewing angles. LG’s new IPS panels will be showcased in four new series of monitors that will cover the gamut of options and price ranges.  All models are 3D enabled with one model being optimized for 3D. All also offer the full range of PC and Multimedia inputs to allow the monitors to do double duty. This latest generation of IPS panel also off 25% better power efficiency so we can all enjoy the extra color and still be helping the planet.

AOC’s Incredible iPhone Docking Monitor

AOC, creators of displays great and small has added a twist  to the humble LCD monitor. Making HDMI inputs look old school AOC’s new e2343Fi monitor includes a docking station for your iPhone or Touch. While the e2343Fi may look like your standard 23″ monitor it’s SRS speakers and integrated Apple interface makes this monitor perfect as a mini multimedia studio. Once the brains of the operation is docked your iPhone’s display is automatically mirrored on the 23″ LCD, in it’s full high definition glory. AOC isn’t stopping at adding a docking station to your monitor either, rumors suggest a combined USB connectivity and dock has already been prototyped. AOC’s new multipurpose monitor along new prototype displays will be on show at the much anticipated CES 2012. AOC is coming prepared with many tricks up their sleeve.

Integrating a dock into the base of the LCD display is just another way AOC is added more function to LCD panels.
