Around the same time last year we announced the immanent release of Sifteo Cubes Intelligent Play – Sifteo Cubes! The New Face of Smart Games - a clever little system where the timeless concept of building blocks where given a thoroughly modern makeover. Überclever cubes sporting a touch-sensitive color LCD display, onboard sensing technology, embedded computer, games, puzzles sent wirelessly from a handy PC or laptop.
Sifteo’s clever system has just been treated to an update.
The addition of a new Sifteo Base to the system allows players of the next generation system to venture beyond the radio range of the previous version. The maximum number of cubes available for gameplay has also been doubled for more complex puzzles, to unlock new levels or just to get more family members involved in the action.
The addition of the Sifteo Base completely eliminates the need for a nearby computer during gameplay by allowing game storage on the compact unit itself and wirelessly communicate with the Cubes. The base is battery-powered for portability as well as featuring built-in speakers for in-game audio.
Punters can buy and add games to the base unit using Sifteo Sync desktop software - via pc – as the name suggests, the new games automatically download to the Sifteo Base when it’s plugged into your pc :: Read the full article »»»»

Reuters Jeremy Wagstaff describes it as “a piece of toast” it’s wearing labels like “a device for elephants and a throwback to the good old brick of the 1980s” Snickering aside, Samsung has sold 5 million Galaxy Note phone/tablets and plans on selling 10 million units this year.
Galaxy Note is much more than a freak hit! Tech-consumer, design experts and gadget analysts reckon the surprise success of the “phablet” marks a much deeper shift in the fast-paced world of mobile devices. Launched in late November 2011, the Samsung Galaxy Note is a standout product. The most obvious thing about the Note is its size. Its 5.3 inch screen is almost as wide as the iPhone’s screen is long.
…then there’s the stylus. Apple’s co-founder, the late great Steve Jobs famously ridiculed the idea of using a pen to interact with a screen, Samsung however has embraced pointy ended accoutrements, they’ve partnered with Japan’s übercool Wacom, the market leader in digital pen technology, to come up with something less clunky than, well chunky!? Granted the stylus or s-pen is still kind of chunkyish, try writing or sketching with your finger!! Read the full article »»»»

We didn’t manage to get our hands on Apples latest ubergadget, the iPad, the one that Apple paints as Resolutionary! Our Favorite Rueterist, Liana B. Baker has filled that missing space however, reporting that the übergadget has caught the eye and desire of gamers: Apple’s faster and sharper-looking new iPad is drawing the notice of the traditional video game industry, as developers are envisioning games for it that have more in common with the visceral 3D shooter “Call of Duty” than “FarmVille.”
Apple is also setting itself up to take on Microsoft and Sony on their home turf of game consoles.
From Electronic Arts to “Crysis” developers Crytek, industry executives are figuring out ways to migrate graphics-intensive so-called hardcore games to the iPad. Epic Games and Namco Bandai – 7832.T – took the stage at Apple’s iPad unveiling this week to show off what they can do with an iPad that has a faster quad core processor.
With more than 55 million iPads sold to date, including 15.43 million last quarter, the tablet is quickly catching up to the number of consoles on the market: the PlayStation 3 has sold 62 million units and Xbox 360 has moved more than 65 million units. That growing user base is drawing developers who want to see their games played on as many devices as possible.
“Apple is definitely building their devices as if they care a lot about ‘triple-A’ games,” said Mike Capps, president of Epic Games, the studio behind “Gears of War” for consoles and “Infinity Blade” for the iPad. Read the full article »»»»
