Looks Like A Kodak

Posted: April 10th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Technoid Gadget News | Tags: , , , , | Comments Off on Looks Like A Kodak

http://kodakcamera.jkiltd.com/cameras/astroZoom/az361.phpThe website has Kodak splashed all-over, the camera looks like a Kodak, is marketed like a Kodak, geez they even have Kodak’s heritage listed. It isn’t a Kodak, it’s JK Imaging. Early last year, just prior to going into bankruptcy, the Eastman Kodak Company announced the ditching of its digital camera range.

At the time Kodak was in a large amount of pain, blaming the demise of low end digital cameras on the rise in quality of smartphone cameras, After re-financing and a quick but brutal reshuffle; including selling-off licensing agreements, ditching almost 30,000 workers and a beefed up patent war. Kodak under the helmsmanship of CEO Antonio Perez is slowly resurrecting.

Kodak-branded cameras looked set to be consigned to the history books, destined to become dusty relics collected by odd-little folk who speak lots of remember-whens. Fortunately for brand-watchers – and folk who refuse to buy into the pro-photog look – LA based JK Imaging snapped up a brand licensing deal earlier this year that has seen the Kodak brand once again brandished on a new wave of digital cameras :: Read the full article »»»»

Samsung Slips Passed Apple on 4G

Samsung Slips Passed Apple on 4G - Samsung's 4G PhabletThe war between Apple and Samsung over design and technology patents has cast Samsung as the underling, while Apple is painted as pushing at the edges of innovation. Ahh what a short sighted world we live in, I’d argue with such commentary, going so far as to say that most commentators have things wrong, very wrong.

While Samsung may have a little eggroll on it’s face over claims of plagiarism, the Korean consumer electronics behemoth is definitely no slouch on the technology front, winning the much more important war on patent innovations, particularly when it comes to 4G and it’s application in the mobile device wars.

4G isn’t so much a new technology but  a better use of existing technologies, Samsung has been working on 4G since 2005 and has pretty much perfected it’s use in mobile devices. The higher and more responsive – up to 10 x 3G – bandwidth of 4G is well suited to tablets and smartphones.

In Australia, Telstra has the largest geographic coverage in 4G and has been upgrading mobile cell towers to 4G since 2010, with a consumer roll-out from late in 2011. The benefits of running mobile devices on 4G are real, the simultaneous speed is pretty outstanding :: Read the full article »»»»

Sifteo CubesAround the same time last year we announced the immanent release of Sifteo Cubes Intelligent Play – Sifteo Cubes! The New Face of Smart Games – a clever little system where the timeless concept of building blocks where given a thoroughly modern makeover. Überclever cubes sporting a touch-sensitive color LCD display, onboard sensing technology, embedded computer, games, puzzles sent wirelessly from a handy PC or laptop.

Sifteo’s clever system has just been treated to an update.

The addition of a new Sifteo Base to the system allows players of the next generation system to venture beyond the radio range of the previous version. The maximum number of cubes available for gameplay has also been doubled for more complex puzzles, to unlock new levels or just to get more family members involved in the action.

The addition of the Sifteo Base completely eliminates the need for a nearby computer during gameplay by allowing game storage on the compact unit itself and wirelessly communicate with the Cubes. The base is battery-powered for portability as well as featuring built-in speakers for in-game audio.

Punters can buy and add games to the base unit using Sifteo Sync desktop software  – via pc –  as the name suggests, the new games automatically download to the Sifteo Base when it’s plugged into your pc :: Read the full article »»»»
